Definitions

  • Data processor: a natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or any other body that processes personal data on behalf of the controller.

  • Data processing: any operation or set of operations performed on personal data or data files, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

  • Controller: the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or any other body which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; where the purposes and means of processing are determined by Union or Member State law, the controller or the specific criteria for its designation may be provided for by Union or Member State law.

  • Data transfer: making data accessible to a specified third party.

  • Data breach: a security incident that results in the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or unauthorized access to personal data transmitted, stored, or otherwise processed.

  • Pseudonymisation: the processing of personal data in such a manner that the personal data can no longer be attributed to a specific natural person without the use of additional information, provided that such additional information is kept separately and is subject to technical and organizational measures to ensure that the personal data are not attributed to identified or identifiable natural persons.

  • Anonymization: a technical procedure that ensures the permanent elimination of the possibility of restoring the link between the data subject and the data.

  • Biometric data: any personal data obtained by specific technical means relating to the physical, physiological, or behavioral characteristics of a natural person that allow or confirm the unique identification of that natural person, such as a facial image or dactyloscopic data.

  • Cookie (cookies): an information file (usually plain text) that is placed on the user's hard drive thru their browser, which uniquely identifies the user upon their next visit.

  • Recipient: the natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or any other body to whom or which the personal data are disclosed, regardless of whether they are a third party.

  • Direct marketing activity: the totality of information activities and supplementary services carried out thru direct contact methods, aimed at offering products or services to the person concerned, transmitting advertisements, informing consumers or business partners, and promoting sales (purchases).

  • Health data: data concerning the physical, mental, and spiritual state of the data subject, their pathological addiction, and the circumstances of their illness or death, as well as the cause of death, communicated by them or by another person about them, or observed, examined, measured, imaged, or derived by the healthcare network; and any data related to, or influencing, the foregoing (e.g., behavior, environment, occupation).

  • Electronic commerce service: an information society service whose purpose is the commercial sale, purchase, exchange, or other use of a tangible movable thing – including money and securities, as well as natural resources that can be used in a similar way to a thing –, a service, real estate, or a right of pecuniary value (hereinafter collectively referred to as "goods").

  • Electronic means: you can request electronic data processing, storage, or forwarding from the data controller.
